The Strategy Gun: Power Police Wiki's Manual of Style Policy is an easy guide consisting of editing tips for users on the wiki who are contributing.

Introducing Manual of Style

This is the Manual of Style or MOS, do note that this guide is for editing all articles in the wiki. This is not just for new users who created an account, but also to other users that never even knew the MOS exsisted. Do not think that this should be easy to follow, but everyone is recommended to obey the wiki's style format. You never know what the wiki is going to be like without an MOS.

The MOS must be fully and completely read by users. No exceptions. It's not as easy when you first tour this, but later on you will understand. You are about to further explore the MOS. Please read.

Articles and Creation

Name and Title of Article

Don't just randomly put in the article name. It is as important as the information you are holding in your brain. Naming your article goes into separate sections. Please read!

  • Character Names - it's a big deal for names. Names come in different formats of how you name them, please see below for some help.
    • Macron - a macron is sometimes performed in Strategy Gun: Power Police Wiki. A macron is commonly found in a word with ending letters of ō and an ū at the end. It is mainly in Japanese names, so better off use this rule and change those letters to "ou" or "uu". Example: Taiyou = Taiyō and Taiyuu = Taiyū.
    • Split Personality/nickname - that's hard to choose. Not a lot of characters are called often from a different personality or nickname. Use the name a character is often called by or the real initial character name. Example: Korumna Yushiike uses a name called Kryten, but the real initial character name is Korumna Yushiike. You can create a redirect for Kryten though.
    • Unknown name - if there is a name that you are unsure of, then you can suggest it on the forums under the General Discussion Board and or in our List of Characters, -DFChars, or -DMChars that lists all characters even if they are unknown. If you can hold it, we suggest you to save it on your computer and wait till we reply back from where you have requested us. Understand that it may be transferred to pages.
  • Episode Names - episode names in the wiki are used in this way: C1.1, this is due to the formatting of the series. Please don't use the long way: Episode 1: Mystic Arrival/Strategy Learning and Mystic Arrival/Strategy Learning. It's way off, most people won't be able to know whether it is an item name or an episode name. This is also incorrect: Course 1, Episode 1 (Part 1): Mystic Arrival/Strategy Learning. If there is a part, please use: C1.1a or "b".
  • Item Names - please note that you need to know the name of the item even if it was not mentioned. If you know a lot about the unnamed item, maybe you can come up with a good title like it. Names that don't make sense will be changed from an administrator. Remember to use the "unknown name" rule.
  • Location Names - it's not a free thing to use all locations of each province, but the places mentioned in the series. Here are some tips to each different provinces for naming:
    • Guang Dong Locations - use the location name it is said in the series or use a Cantonese translation.
    • Hong Kong Locations - use a Cantonese translation, it's mainly named in that language. You can also use the English name, just make sure we know it's a location.
    • Shang Hai and Beijing Locations - use the word like it was mentioned in Mandarin.
    • Tokyo Locations - it is an easy thing for most people to write the Japanese version of a location name. Remember to use the macron rule.

Headings

Under this heading, you have to always know the right information for each heading of the article. If you create separate sections, please use the article layout. If you have something to add that is only available to the page you are working on, just add a heading. Just be sure it is an accurate section, talking about the right information under the heading. If you are creating a Heading like this as in example follows: Jo's POV to the Organization for a use of a character's perspective to the article for little reference. This is not needed in the layouts. Do not use (Jo's POV) to the Organization or jo's pov to the organization. Always keep an eye on your spelling errors, it really matters as number one!

Categorizing Article

If you spot an article that needs a category or needs to have another category, add it! If you spot an article misplaced in a category, change it! It's up to you, however there are few consequences for you to EXPLAIN why in the SUMMARY. An administrator will check the changes and will undo it sometimes.

All articles are recommended to be categorized, it is a way to show some organization. It's a good thing to use in the wiki, so do not waste your time finding a category to fit in. Do not blank out a page without a category or readers might not see/read your progress. If there is no category you are looking for, you may add it.

Grammar

Spelling

We do not need 100% spelled correct to articles. However, spelling like "investigator" into "investigater" and "invesgtor" is automatically wrong. It is okay, it's happening to all pages. Even this page.

We also recommend you follow some tips on commenting, the number one rule is to use these four languages: Chinese, Japanese, English, British, etc. In those areas, you can chat however you chat or comment in your phone while texting. You can use various languages and appropriate slang terms. Warning: No cursing or cussing allowed.

Capitalization

Capital letters are also very wide-happening in the wiki. Without a capital, words all look messy in sentences thqt had no starting points. Capitalizing is also useful, but you may need to know the following things about having capital letters:

  • Emphasis - instead of just using some action in capital letters, you can use italics to show what you are talking about. However, italics can create emphasis too - only if you use it too much in one sentence or italicizing the wrong word. Italics will have to be put into the right place. See the below:
Correct: Jo, why did you do that for!? You were really wrong, idiot! You were almost close to finding him!
Incorrect: Jo, why did you do that for!? You were REALLY WRONG, idiot! You were almost close to finding HIM!
  • Titles - titles should be capitalized in their way of formatting. When starting a title, notice if the specific article title must have the article parts of speech of "a" or "the" is present. See below:
Correct: The Unorganized Case
Incorrect: Unorganized case
  • Character Names - it's very important. You can't leave out a name without a capital all the time! Names were always meant to have capitals in them...or else what's the purpose of a capital? See below:
Correct: Shuang Wen Zu
Incorrect: Shuang wen zu
  • Sentences - it's also a good way to start a capital for your day's worth. Some people use their language of English differently, so this section is mostly crossed off. See the below:
Correct: The way the Police Force opens the job for a Police Officer is very difficult.
Incorrect: The way the Police force opens the job for a police officer is very difficult.

Punctuation

It's not that big of a deal, but you do need to know what punctuation mark you use.

Templates

  • Infoboxes - The most popular template to use in articles and around wikia. The main job of an Infobox is to provide information to the article you are editing on and for other readers who would want to know more. Some infoboxes don't have to start or end with the word "infobox", it can say "info" or "box". We widely accept that whenever creating a character, item, or location article, use the specific infobox provided there.
  • Userboxes - One of the most used templates for userpages. Here we make userboxes not just for fun, but to know other users more who have a sense to the Strategy Gun: Power Police Wiki. We also let them use opinions to see what they think. We are currently suspending of adding more, based on users.
  • Navigational - Here's a big go on templates! We use this to categorize pages to come together in groups just like our categories. But in navigations, you can see what to learn and what to expect based on what is listed there. It's quick and fast. Navigation templates include characters, locations, episodes, organizations, and others.

Media

Media is a decorative way for users and readers to an article. It makes readers more excited to read.

  • Photos - Photos show good events that occurred in an episode and or in a character article. Photos of items will mainly be placed in outlines and the full image of that particular item.
  • Videos - Videos give us more information by seeing how the episode looked like or what happened, compared to a photo. We recommend you send Strategy Gun: Power Police Wiki an URL of a video of an episode trailer, opening theme, closing theme, etc. Do not provide the full video!
  • Music - Music is also a good way for people to hear what's happening or what's beautiful about the songs. You can upload the opening theme, closing theme, and other music used in the series. You might also want to upload an episode for voice, not scenes like videos. Know the license too.

Wiki Text Coding

In Strategy Gun: Power Police Wiki, we use these various coding to articles. It makes words stand out more to make the reader feel excited or something besides boredom. The first two of the text code is the most important to Strategy Gun: Power Police Wiki:

  • Bold - in source mode, you use three apostrophes. In visual mode, you can just click on the icon on the top.
  • Italics - in source mode, you use two apostrophes, not a quotation mark. In visual mode, you can just click on the icon on the top.
  • Color - in source mode, you use a "span" styling. By doing so, use this: <span style="color:green;">to get green</span>. There is not a visual mode to color.
  • Underline - in source mode, you use: <u> and ends with a </u>. There is not really a visual mode for underline.
  • Strike-through - in source mode, you use: <s> or <strike> and ends with a </s> or </strike>. There is not really a visual mode for strike-through.
  • Code - in source mode, you use <code> and ends with a </code>. There is no visual mode for code.
  • [[linking]] - in source mode, you use two brackets: [[ and ]]. In visual mode, you can just click on the icon on the top.
